Exit Through The Gift Shop starts as a documentary about making a documentary on street art. As a documentary filmmaker Thierry films and gets to know street art gods like Banksy, Shepard Fairey (Obey), and Space Invader. Thierry has thousands of hours of footage, but there is only one problem. He does not know the first thing about making a documentary. The film then turns into a parody of Thierry's ability and turns him into a hack. I found this documentary very interesting and informative, but the editing and cinematography were not very interesting. This film is very funny, but it drags and makes it hard to sit through the whole thing. I was particularly drawn to this film because it is directed by world renowned street artist, Banksy. For anyone interested in street or contemporary art Exit Through The Gift Shop is a must see.
